Ideas for a Speech or Retirement Card!

Retirement party sentiments play an important role at the party and are a necessary component of the retirement card.  How to write a card to include your sentiments, humor and limericks will be presented.

Both your speech (if you give one) and your retirement card should be original and have a message. For example, you could say or write: "Years from now, I will still remember..."  or  "I'll never forget the day..."  or  "Sometimes words are hard to find..."

Much will depend on the retiree's love for the job or being anxious to retire. You could acknowledge his or her devotion to the job or hard work or accomplishments. Be sure to wish them a great retirement and/or future.

Customize your message, as necessary, so that it fits your retiree. Use little or no humor as humor can be interpreted in different ways.

Limericks by Paul Berchtold  *  Senility Prayer!

Don't become an antique olden,
On a ledge to all beholden.
Go share your treasures,
Beyond all measures,
Retirement years are golden!

You're now leaving the workers' game.
Off to find your fortune and fame!
You are free to roam,
Enjoy time at home,
Still we will miss you all the same.

Surprise, surprise, what's been brewing?
Leaving us? New things pursuing?
O what will we do,
By not having you,
We hope it won't be our undoing!

One more assignment we must do,
With grateful hearts we bid adieu.
On this last work day,
To God we now pray,
Thanking Him for giving us you!

I've heard you have retired of late,
I write this to appreciate,
Your very hard work,
You deserve this perk,
May happy days become your fate.
